Behind the Scenes...

The creation of this journal originated from gratitude and awareness exercises that Leah took upon herself to practice daily. Recognizing the positive impact it had on her life, prompted Leah to form this journal as gift for her daughter, who was then deciding on her next step forward after a year of seminary studies in Israel.

During the months that followed, Leah discovered that this journal made a great gift for just about anyone, and was appreciated by all who received it. Leah gave it as a hostess gift to a wonderful woman who she stayed by for Shabbat, to dear friends in lieu of thank you cards of appreciation, and to individuals that she knew were going through life transitions.

The feedback she received in the way the it affected those who used the journal was heartwarming. With Siyata D'shmaya, ideas for good deeds were born, as well as positive goals set and achieved. Leah also was surprised and delighted to hear of creative ways others were using the journal; her sister-in-law had her children sit at the table and journal together! All this overwhelming support from family and friends, encouraged Leah to share this powerful little journal publicly with others.

Now, you too, can enjoy the gifts of this life-enriching practice. BS"D!

Breath of Being

Breath of Being is the first painting in this series. Inspired by the Hebrew prayer of Nishmas Kol Chai / Nishmat - a prayer of heartfelt praise and gratitude to Our Creator. Affirmation for meditation: I Am Grateful

40"x40" Acrylic and Metal on Canvas

Aquired

"Saying the Nishmas prayer puts me in a space I'd love to stay in all day - one of connection, gratitude, trust and presence. Workin' on it!"

Can you spot the highlighted words depicted within the painting?

...If ocean-full our mouth were with music

Our tongues singing like the ceaseless surf

Our lips praising You to the skies

Oureyes blazing like sun and moon

Our arms spread like soaring eagles

Our legs sprinting like those of deers

We could not thank You enough...

Hint for 'music': search for the ancient harp (x4)

Vines of Valour

Inquire

Here I acknowledge the woman who does her best to stay afloat. Defying the odds, she keeps hope and happiness alive, both in her home, and in the hearts of countless others.

This one's for you.

In the creation of this painting I was inspired by the following lines from Aishet Chayil:

1. ...Far beyond pearls is her value.

2. …from the fruit of her handiwork she plants a vineyard.

3. ...She senses that her enterprise is good, so her lamp is not extinguished at night.

4. ...She spreads out her palm to the poor and extends her hands to the destitute.  - Hint: (The grape-leaves are not what they seem.)

5. Strength and splendor are her clothing.

6. She opens her mouth with Wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

7. Give her the fruit of her hands, and she will be praised at the gates by her very own deeds.

💜Thank You💜

With love and appreciation to Shayna Chamish for gifting me with the Nishmas card created by Charlene Aminoff. My having it handy led me to include it in my daily prayers, and doing so has enriched my life.
