Paintings

The Hope Collection:

Inspired by Judaic prayers and Tehillim / Psalms.

During times of challenge as well as transition there is nothing like prayer to calm the mind, soothe the soul and provide much needed hope and inner peace.

Follow my journey as I embarked upon a new artventure - creating a collection of paintings inspired by prayers and traditions of my Jewish heritage.

Release date to be announced.

Breath of Being

Breath of Being is the first painting in this series. Inspired by the Hebrew prayer of Nishmas Kol Chai / Nishmat - a prayer of heartfelt praise and gratitude to Our Creator. Affirmation for meditation: I Am Grateful

40"x40" Acrylic and Metal on Canvas

Aquired

"Saying the Nishmas prayer puts me in a space I'd love to stay in all day - one of connection, gratitude, trust and presence. Workin' on it!"

Can you spot the highlighted words depicted within the painting?

...If ocean-full our mouth were with music

Our tongues singing like the ceaseless surf

Our lips praising You to the skies

Oureyes blazing like sun and moon

Our arms spread like soaring eagles

Our legs sprinting like those of deers

We could not thank You enough...

Hint for 'music': search for the ancient harp (x4)

Vines of Valour

Inspired by the prayer Aishet Chayil from Proverbs, which which praises the woman. Traditionally sung Friday Night, followed by the Shabbat meal. 40"x40" Acrylic on Canvas.

Inquire

Here I acknowledge the woman who does her best to stay afloat. Defying the odds, she keeps hope and happiness alive, both in her home, and in the hearts of countless others.

This one's for you.

In the creation of this painting I was inspired by the following lines from Aishet Chayil:

1. ...Far beyond pearls is her value.

2. …from the fruit of her handiwork she plants a vineyard.

3. ...She senses that her enterprise is good, so her lamp is not extinguished at night.

4. ...She spreads out her palm to the poor and extends her hands to the destitute.  - Hint: (The grape-leaves are not what they seem.)

5. Strength and splendor are her clothing.

6. She opens her mouth with Wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

7. Give her the fruit of her hands, and she will be praised at the gates by her very own deeds.

💜Thank You💜

With love and appreciation to Shayna Chamish for gifting me with the Nishmas card created by Charlene Aminoff. My having it handy led me to include it in my daily prayers, and doing so has enriched my life.
